Midwest Land Transfer Forum – National Agricultural Land Network, a project of American Farmland Trust
During the August Midwest Forum, we heard from Kristina Villa and Ian McSweeney, Co-Executive Directors and Co-Founders of The Farmers Land Trust, who shared about their organization and Farmland Commons model. Farmland Commons are community-centered and democratically run local land holding nonprofit entities that then give 99-year, secure, affordable, and equitable lease tenure to next generation farmers. They are dedicated to developing solutions that not only protect farmland but also secure long-term tenure for farmers.
