Approximately 20 hours per week, fully remote (accurate timekeeping required)

Pay Range:  $28-$33 per hour, depending upon experience

Reports to:  Co-Directors

Introductory Period: 90-day probationary period

 

Who We Are:

The Farmers Land Trust, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) that focuses on developing equitable, scalable, and inspiring solutions to protect and steward farmland and secure tenure for biodynamic, organic, regenerative, and agroecology- practicing farmers through creating and supporting non-profit community-centered land holding entities across the country and around the globe in collaboration with farmers, ranchers, and other stewards of the land.

 

 

What We Do:

The Farmers Land Trust works nationally to transact farmland (real estate, fundraising, legal) out of private ownership and into community ownership through the Farmland Commons, which are local land holding nonprofit entities that then give 99-year, secure, affordable, and equitable lease tenure to next generation farmers using chemical free, regenerative food production agriculture.

Overview of Role:

The Part-time Operations Manager provides back-end support to the organization. The person selected for this role will be able to operate independently with close coordination with the co-directors to ensure ongoing compliance with a variety of tasks; overseeing the day-to-day activities within the organization to ensure efficient and effective operations. This position will also interface with TFLT’s partners and vendors.

 

Principal Duties:

 

  1.  Data & Information Management:

    • Maintain, upload content, and organize digital records and Google Drive ensuring they are up to date and easily accessible to staff and/or others who are authorized for access

    • Assist with data entry, record-keeping, and data management to support organization

    • Provide support in maintaining accurate donor records, acknowledgments, and donor communication in Little Green Light CRM

    • Complete research and data collection as needed
       

  2. Systems, Platform, and Database Management:

    • Update TFLT website as needed with recent press, podcasts, blogs, and programmatic and organizational additions

    • Maintain, and make updates as needed, to ensure integration between MailChimp, Wordpress website, Little Green Light CRM, Stripe, and other systems are working proficiently.

    • Proactively communicate recommendations for systems development and/or improvement to Co-Directors when concerns or process improvements are identified

    • Keep TFLT up-to-date in all digital and print and partner platforms and databases that supports the organization such as Guidestar, Charity Navigator, etc.
       

  3. Financial Support:

    • Assist with basic financial tasks, such as processing invoices, expense reports, donations, donor acknowledgment and other financial items in accordance with established GAAP procedures

    • Process receipts and payments for employee reimbursement, travel and office needs, independent contractor contracts, invoices, and 1099s, and other accounts payable and receivable items for timely payment

    • Work closely with Co-Directors and Fractional CFO team at Jitasa as needed to ensure accurate record-keeping and financial reporting to ensure monthly financial reporting and management and annual financial and accounting 

    • Track, share, upload, and report tax documents, check images, receipts, and other files as needed

    • Interface with programs such as Stripe, PayPal, Venmo, and others

    • Manage financial institution registrations in Donor-Advised-Fund databases and brokerage donation accounts  (eg. Fidelity)
       

  4. Office Management:

    • Manage relationships with vendors and service providers

    • Manage payroll with Gusto

    • Track inventory of office equipment, material, etc. 

    • Oversee the purchase and inventory of the organization's office supplies, merch, outreach materials, etc. 

    • Complete the purchase of organizational print materials such as business cards, flyers, brochures, etc 

    • Manage online store through Printful

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience with Little Green Light, MailChimp, and Wordpress required 

  • At least 3 years of experience as Administrative Assistant or Accounts Payable/Receivable or similar experience is preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business management, communications or similar preferred. High school diploma required with at least 2 additional years of directly-related experience for a total of at least 5 years preferred.

  • Basic understanding of GAAP principles and separation of duties in financial matters preferred

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Google Drive and Microsoft Office, including proficient use of Word, Excel, Access databases or similar, PowerPoint, etc., required (will be tested)

  • Experience with payroll, Quickbooks, and other software programs preferred

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-based environment, all remote required

  • Knowledge of nonprofit or mission driven for profit operations, fundraising and donor management, communications, and remote work systems, structures, and culture strongly preferred

  • Experience tracking and reporting data regarding grant or other deliverables preferred

  • Experience using databases to track and maintain accurate data required

  • Experience with Stripe, PayPal, Venmo and other similar platforms preferred
